Turkey relaxes quarantine restrictions on Pakistani travelers

Ankara: Turkey changed its quarantine policy for travelers from Afghanistan and Pakistan on Tuesday, compulsory quarantine for 10 days, but if it receives a negative test for the coronavirus, it allows the quarantine period to end within 7 days.

According to the latest notice issued by the Ministry of the Interior on June 28: “All passengers arriving from Pakistan and Afghanistan, regardless of their vaccination or recovery status, must obtain a negative PCR test result within the last 72 hours of boarding time, and then enter A 10-day quarantine,” the Pakistani delegation to the Information Section of Ankara said in a statement.

The Pakistani delegation stated that the Turkish authorities stated that if their coronavirus “results negative”, it is possible to end the quarantine on the seventh day.

The embassy said: “If their test results are positive, the authorities will make a decision based on the COVID-19 guidelines set by the Turkish Ministry of Health.”

Passengers may need to go to private hotels for quarantine

The Pakistani Embassy also stated that due to the “limited capacity” of the government-run quarantine center, Turkish authorities at the airport may require passengers to be quarantined in private hotels. It also stated that the cost of accommodation must be borne by the passengers.

The delegation said: “If passengers are quarantined in government facilities, there will be no economic impact on passengers.”

Earlier, Turkey’s coronavirus policy stipulated that travelers from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Brazil, South Africa, India, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka must be quarantined for 14 days at a location determined by the Turkish government.
