Karachi: A statement on Wednesday stated that the Chinese company Bytedance’s TikTok app deleted nearly 6.5 million videos from Pakistan between January 2021 and March 2021 because the video violated the platform’s policies.

This number makes Pakistan the second largest country in the world with the most videos removed from the platform after the United States.

According to TikTok’s quarterly transparency report released on Wednesday, videos from the Pakistan market violated TikTok’s community guidelines and terms of service, and some of them are promoting COVID-19 misinformation.

During the three-month period from January to March 2021, 61,951,327 videos were deleted globally, less than 1% of all videos uploaded by TikTok.

In the Pakistani market, TikTok deleted 6,495,992 videos, becoming the second market with the most deleted videos after the United States. During this period, 8,540,088 videos were deleted.
