Corona positive rate in Pakistan soars, with 4,497 new cases reported in a single day

Pakistan’s National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) said on Thursday that Pakistan had reported the highest surge in COVID-19 cases in a single day in two months, adding 4,497 new cases in the past 24 hours.
The last time the country recorded more than 4,000 cases in a day was on May 21, when 4,007 new cases were reported.
NCOC stated that the total number of confirmed cases in the country has risen to 1,020,324, of which 935,742 have recovered, adding that the positive rate of infection is 7.53%.
NCOC said that in the past 24 hours, COVID-19 has claimed 76 lives across the country, bringing the death toll from the disease to 23,209, adding that 2,898 people are in critical condition.
Sindh province is the most affected area in the country with 371,762 infections, followed by Punjab province with 354,312 cases reported.
In order to curb the spread of the disease, Pakistan has also accelerated the pace of vaccination and vaccinated 683,616 doses of COVID-19 vaccine on July 29. The country has received 26,248,235 doses of vaccine so far.
