Visceral collection points will be set up at the trade union committee level

After consultation with the relevant deputy commissioners, collection points will be set up at the level of the trade union committees in all seven districts of Karachi to remove internal organs.

The decision was made at a meeting held in the commissioner’s office on Thursday. Commissioner Navid Ahmed Shaikh reviewed the arrangements for cleaning up the remains of sacrificial animals during the Eidul Azha festival.

The commissioner listened to the emergency plan for moving the entrails of sacrificial animals to the landfill, as well as the subsequent cleaning and spraying, formulated by the relevant departments.

Officials from the Sindh Solid Waste Management Committee (SSWMB) briefed the commissioner on the lifting and disposal plan of offal. According to SSWMB, the offal will be disposed of at the Jam Chakro and Gond Pass landfills.

The meeting also decided that SSWMB, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), District Municipal Corporation (DMC) and the camp committee will coordinate with relevant departments to carry out garbage removal and cleaning. Department headed by deputy commissioners.

The meeting also reviewed the steps taken to implement the guidelines issued by the Sindh Provincial Government on the collection of animal skins for sacrifice. The meeting decided that only people with written permission or no-objection certificate (NOC) from the commissioner or relevant deputy commissioner can collect hides. All these people must follow the guidelines in accordance with the license or the regulations of the National Olympic Committee.

The meeting also reviewed the Deputy Commissioner’s efforts to implement Covid-19 Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) in the city. Decided that all companies will strictly abide by the SOP. In view of the expected fourth wave of the virus, the Commissioner requested the Deputy Commissioner to effectively implement standard operating procedures in accordance with the recommendations of the National Command and Operations Center.

The commissioner asked the deputy commissioner to ensure strict compliance with standard operating procedures in the bull market and in the different markets of the city. The meeting was attended by Karachi’s second deputy commissioner Jawad Muzaffar (Jawad Muzaffar); traffic police chief DIG Zulfiqar Larak; all deputy commissioners; assistant commissioner Ejaz Hussain Rind; all municipal commissioners of developing member bodies; KMC, Senior officials of the camp committee, the livestock and local government departments of the Sindh Provincial Government, the traffic police and the Pakistan Rangers; and K-Electric representatives.
