New Delhi: Virgin Galactic has reopened ticket sales for one of its spacecraft that will fly to space in the future. Virgin Galactic announced on Thursday (August 6th) that tickets sold by the space technology company led by Richard Branson start at $450,000. The new price is almost double the space ticket sold by Virgin Galactic between 2005 and 2014.

It is worth noting that in those years, Virgin Galactic tickets sold for about 200,000 to 250,000 US dollars. In those years, about 600 space enthusiasts booked air tickets.

The price increase may be due to the successful flight of Virgin Galactic founder Richard Branson last month. Branson flew to space on July 11, nine days before Blue Origin’s founder and billionaire Jeff Bezos went to space on July 20.

CEO Michael Colglazier said in a statement that the company is pleased to announce that it will restart sales on the same day (August 5). “While we strive to bring space miracles to the vast global population, we are happy to open the door to new industries and consumer experiences.”

Virgin Galactic’s next test flight is scheduled for September 2021. Members of the Italian Air Force are likely to participate in the test flight.

Virgin Galactic’s first commercial flight date

Virgin Galactic’s first commercial flight date is expected to take off in the third quarter of 2022, CEO Colglazier recently announced on the earnings call. Customers can book single seat, couple seat, friend seat and family seat. The company also provides customers with all seats on reserved flights. Virgin Galactic is offering an early bird discount, in which it offers two free seats on one of its commercial flights to space.
