New Delhi: YouTube is ready to pay up to $10,000 per month to creators who create and share YouTube short videos on the video hosting platform. Google-owned platforms will pay content creators from a $100 million creator fund established to promote the content creator ecosystem.

YouTube’s chief product officer Neil Mohan told Verge in a podcast for one of the online publications that the company plans to pay creators starting this month. He also pointed out that creators will have the opportunity to earn up to US$10,000 (about Rs 741,000) a month by making YouTube Shorts.

The Short Film Creator Fund was first announced by YouTube in May 2021. But YouTube did not disclose many details about the fund at the time. “The popularity required to make money will depend on the number of people who make and watch the short film each month, and the expenditure will also depend on the location of each creator’s audience,” Verge reports.

This Google-owned platform launched YouTube Shorts in India in September 2020. Not long ago, the Indian government banned this Chinese short video sharing application for user privacy and national security considerations. Soon after its launch in India, YouTube Short was launched in more than 100 countries, including major markets such as the United States.
