In a statement issued by the Inter-Service Public Relations Department (ISPR), Tajik Defense Minister Sheralli Mirzo praised Pakistan’s role in the peace process in Afghanistan on Wednesday.

General Sherali Mirzo made the comments during a meeting with Army Chief of Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa at Rawalpindi Headquarters.

General Bajwa told the Minister of Tajikistan that Pakistan values ​​the fraternal relationship with Tajikistan, which is based on a common belief, culture and consensus on all important issues related to regional peace, security and stability. He also appreciated Tajikistan’s efforts for regional connectivity.

On the other hand, the Minister of Tajikistan praised Pakistan’s role in promoting regional peace and stability, especially Islamabad’s role in the peace process in Afghanistan.

ISPR said that General Mirzo vowed to work hard to improve relations between his country and Pakistan.

In addition, the military media stated that the two officials discussed issues of common concern, the situation in the entire region, including recent developments in Afghanistan — especially the situation on the Tajik-Afghanistan border — and measures to further strengthen bilateral defense cooperation.
