After being fed up with his atrocities, Nazia Hassan seeks a divorce from Ishtiaq Baig: brother

Nacia Hassan’s brother and music collaborator Johaib Hassan claimed on Friday that the late pop idol divorced her husband after getting tired of her husband’s brutality against her.

He said: “I don’t even want to use the name of Nacia Hassan’s ex-husband.” “He accused me of living on Nacia’s money. That’s nonsense,” he added.

Zohaib said that the British court refused to transfer the custody of Nazia’s son after his death to Ishtiaq, adding that he and his family were taking care of the boy.

“Years have passed [since her demise]. Her son was with us and completed his studies,” he added.

Zohaib lied to accuse the pop singer’s ex-husband that he had paid for his children’s education. “He never contacted us about the welfare of his children, even once,” he said.

Zohaib said that if Ishtiaq wishes, he can seek custody of his son from any English court. “I am now the head of Nacia Hassan’s lawyer. I must be responsible for all decisions [related to her],” he added.

A day ago, Zohaib stated in a statement recorded under oath in London that Nazia said that her husband at the time “fed her something harmful” and treated her badly.

Zohaib explained that in the UK, when someone is in poor health and unable to appear in court, a lawyer is appointed and a statement is provided to him after the oath.

Zohaib said the lawyer met with Nazia and recorded a 10-page testimony.

“The testimony clearly shows that the man let her eat or drink and treated her very badly.

“We hadn’t seen the court document before. I found it now because I was reviewing the document after my father passed away 10 months ago,” the singer added.

“Whenever that day comes, whether it’s Nacia’s birthday or the anniversary of her death, this man will show Nacia’s medical history on TV and provide false information that the divorce did not happen. Such things hurt me deeply. Mother and our family,” he said.

Zohaib said that according to Islamic law, the man should avoid even talking about Nazia, given that the two have divorced.

Nacia Hassan died of lung cancer in London at the age of 35.

Ishtiaq Baig responds to Zohaib’s allegations
