The former commissioner of Captain Rawalpindi (retired), Mohamed Mahmoud, has sought bail after arrest in the anti-corruption court in a case related to the loop scam.
After the initial hearing of the bail request, the court instructed the Anti-Corruption Agency (ACE) to submit a complete case record at the next hearing on August 6.
The imprisoned former commissioner applied for bail through his lawyer, stating that he had never been involved in corruption. He added that the case was aimed at persecuting him.

He claimed that he had been retaliated against for disobeying political leaders and that it was illegal to set up a fact-finding committee to investigate scams.
The former bureaucrat begged the court to order him to be released on bail.
A team of Punjab’s anti-corruption agency arrested former Rawalpindi commissioner and land acquisition chairman Waseem Tabish last month for their involvement in a ring road scam.
ACE Director General Gohar Nafees confirmed the arrest at a press conference and stated that Waseem Tabish purchased the property after the scam and is currently investigating the asset audit of Captain (retd) Muhammad Mahmood.
Anti-corruption officials said they checked 21,000 documents to close the investigation and found that after the route of the loop project was changed, the total cost of the project had increased to Rs 60 billion.
