Sindh will control 4,192 informal schools run by the center

The Chief Minister of Sindh has approved the proposal to place 4,192 informal schools managed by the federal government under the control of the provincial government.

The 42nd Common Interest Committee meeting on July 18, 2020 decided that the provincial government will take over the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) and basic education community schools from June 30, 2021.

At a meeting hosted on Thursday, CM Syed Murad Ali Shah also decided that after taking control of informal schools, the provincial government will increase the salary of teachers from 8,000 rupees to 25,000 rupees.

Education Minister Saeed Ghani told the CEO that 4,192 schools and education centers, 4,425 teachers and 236,755 students will be controlled by the province.

These include 1,463 basic education community sustainable development schools, 1,463 teachers and 61,118 students, as well as 2,729 NCHD literacy centers, 2,962 teachers and 175,637 students.

CM was told that these schools operate under the informal education system, under which teachers work on a voluntary basis and are paid 8,000 rupees a month.

Shah said that the provincial government has announced that the minimum wage will be 25,000 rupees per month, so these volunteers will receive a monthly salary of 25,000 rupees. A representative of the finance department pointed out that if the salary of 4,425 teachers was increased from 8,000 rupees to 25,000 rupees, it would have a financial impact of 13.275 billion rupees. However, CM approved the amount and instructed the department to submit relevant abstracts.

He also instructed officials in the school’s education and literacy department to control the schools so that they would operate with the same faculty.

“After a period of time, teachers may be provided with the opportunity to take the exam, and those who pass the exam will be introduced into official staff.” He instructed the education department to evaluate the school’s requirements for daily necessities such as furniture, water, toilets, and electricity, and ensure that they are provided. .

CM’s legal counsel Barrister Murtaza Wahab, chief secretary Mumtaz Ali Shah, CM chief secretary Sajid Jamal Abro, school education minister Ahmed Bux Narejo, inter-provincial coordination secretary Asif Ikram, and special secretary of finance Bilal Memon also attended the meeting.
