Serena Williams exits Wimbledon with a leg injury after slipping on the slick center court

Serena Williams’ Wimbledon Tennis Open ended early unfortunately. The American tennis star suffered a leg injury in the first round against Aljaksandra Sasnović.

Williams slipped and fell on the smooth grass of Wimbledon Centre Court. She tried to finish her serve in a 3-3 tie in the first set, but she could not continue.

As a result, she withdrew from the game and let Sasnović advance.

Wimbledon’s grass attracted considerable attention during the first two days of the game, especially on Centre Court. Many players slipped and fell on the ground due to the rain making the court extremely smooth.

Several tennis stars have talked about this issue. The men’s world number one Novak Djokovic joked about the situation on the court after defeating Jack Draper in four sets.

“To be honest, I don’t remember how many times I fell on the court,” Djokovic says.

After Williams withdrew, British fans’ favorite Andy Murray also shot on the court.

Roger Federer’s game was held before Williams and was also affected by the error. After his opponent Adrian Mannarino retired before the fifth set, the sixth-ranked player in the championship won.

Nevertheless, Federer was shocked after Williams withdrew early.
