The management agency of Karachi Development Authority (KDA) has approved the agency’s budget for the 2021-22 fiscal year. The budget has been approved in accordance with Article 27 of the KDA Act 1957.
The agency approved the budget for implementation from July 1, 2021 at a meeting held at the Civic Center on Wednesday. The meeting was hosted by Sindh Local Government and Information Minister Said Nasir Hussain Shah, who is also the chairman of the KDA governing body.
The meeting approved KDA’s budget for the fiscal year 2021-22 of 691,807.4 million rupees and also approved the revised budget of Rs 6,605,805,000 for the 2020-21 fiscal year.
Shah said that a public-private partnership should be used to plan public housing plans on 20,900 yards of land in KDA in Surjani township. He pledged that the Sindh Provincial Government will cooperate fully in this regard.
The local government minister asked why KDA’s housing plan was delayed for 15 years, but in the private sector, the housing plan was completed within three years and the owner obtained ownership. He instructed relevant officials to compile a list of KDA extension projects and remove all problems and obstacles that caused the extension.
The provincial minister ordered the cancellation of the occupation of land under the KDA housing program. “If the KDA unit is illegally occupied, it shows the negligence of the relevant officials of the authorities,” he said.
The Minister added that it has received complaints about illegal construction of wedding houses in the comfortable plots and parks of KDA and ordered officials to take severe action against those involved in such illegal constructions and demolish all such wedding houses.
He said that many people, including the cricketer Shahid Afridi (Shahid Afridi), have requested the use of playgrounds, and comprehensive recommendations should be prepared in this regard to improve the playground. He said that suggestions for beautifying cities around the island should also be put forward.
