Lieutenant General (retired) Asim Salim Bajwa resigned from his post as Director of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Administration Bureau on Tuesday, thanking the government and Prime Minister Imran Khan for their support.
He said in a tweet: “I bow my head in front of Allah Almighty, giving me the opportunity to promote and guide the CPEC Authority, an important institution, as a window for all CPEC projects to point out the direction of the future.”
Bajwa said he wished all the best for Khalid Mansoor, who succeeded him as the prime minister’s special assistant to the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor.
He said that Mansour is fully capable of pushing CPEC forward. “The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is the lifeblood of Pakistan; it will turn us into a progressive and fully developed country.”
according to Geographic News, Mansoor has experience working abroad and has worked in Chinese companies and banks.

At the same time, Federal Minister of Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Assad Omar thanked Bajwa for his important role in pushing CPEC forward and expanding the scope of the project.
The Federal Minister welcomed Mansour to join the team as the SAPM for CPEC affairs. “His rich corporate experience, extensive cooperation with Chinese companies, and his direct involvement in leading some of the largest CPEC projects make him an ideal candidate to lead the next phase of CPEC.”
Later, Shahbaz Gill, the prime minister’s political communications assistant, shared the announcement of Mansour’s appointment in a tweet.
