Tariq Malik, chairman of the National Database and Registration Administration (NADRA), revealed on Monday that 47 employees were fired for forging ID cards.

At a meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Internal Affairs with Tariq Malik, the chairman of the committee, Senator Talha Mahmood, raised the issue of fake IDs.

Senator Mahmoud said he has a list of 45 people whose blocked Computerized National ID Cards (CNIC) have been unblocked. He claimed that an employee of NADRA unlocked the cards in exchange for a house.

Mahmoud added that before this, people from Al Qaeda would receive fake ID cards.

In this regard, Malik stated that according to Prime Minister Imran Khan’s instructions, NADRA has been reorganized.

He added that he has received 87 cases of NADRA employees issuing false ID cards, of which 47 employees have been fired.

“A letter has been written to DG ISI on the issue of fake ID cards,” Malik said, adding that fake ID cards are prevented through the use of artificial intelligence (AI).

Malik added that NADRA is launching a national verification and driver update program under which CNIC will verify through artificial intelligence.
