Instructions to beautify the Salama Garden

Lahore: The Punjab State Tourism and Archaeology Department (TAD) has approached the Lahore Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) to beautify the historic Saramar Gardens in the province’s metropolis.
On Wednesday, a meeting was held with Asif Mehmood, the CM consultant of the Chairman of the Tourism Bureau, on the beautification of the Saramar Garden. Minister TAD Capt (R) Mushtaq Ahmad, PHA DG Jawad Ahmad Qureshi, DG Archaeology Ilyas Gill, Archaeology Director Maqsood Malik and PHA Syed Farhat Abbas also attended the meeting. CM’s consultants vowed that in accordance with the Punjab Provincial Government’s policy to protect and beautify the heritage site, the Saramar Garden will be taken care of accordingly. “Salamal Gardens have been attracting tourists and heritage lovers for centuries, and as the number of visitors increases, it needs to be maintained in a more organized way,” he said. The consultant stated that the government is committed to protecting heritage sites across the province in the same way.
PHA DG introduced the overall situation of historical sites recognized by UNESCO as World Heritage. He said that there are currently 20 to 25 gardeners working here, but about 40 gardeners are needed for this. The consultant asked PHA DG to properly train new employees. Asif Mehmood is also the chairman of PHAs in Punjab. He instructed DG to take the necessary measures to deal with the challenge of staff shortage. He said that Punjab has many famous landmarks, including Shalamar Gardens.
