Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday noted that food items in Pakistan were cheaper than in other countries of the world.

The premier made these remarks in a meeting of the PTI core committee which deliberated on inflation in the country, reorganization of the party and the Afghanistan situation.

The committee also decided to celebrate Ashra-e-Rehmatul Lil Alameen (PBUH) with full zest and fervor.

Addressing the members of the committee, the premier directed them to apprise the people about the reasons for inflation in the country.

“Pakistan has lower inflation rate as compared to other countries,” PM Imran said.

“Pakistan is also giving incentives and subsidies along with a reduction in the prices of edible items,” he added.

On the Afghan issue, the premier maintained that Islamabad was trying to bring the international community together for peace in the war-torn country.

Directing the committee to celebrate Ashra-e-Rehmatul Lil Alameen (PBUH) from Rabiul Awwal 3 to 12, PM Imran said that he would himself inaugurate the Ashra from the third of the month.

He also asked the Punjab and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governments to complete the developmental projects in timely manner.

The premier stressed that the next general elections would be held through the electronic voting machines, saying the government would give the voting rights to the overseas Pakistanis.

Separately, the premier held a meeting with Insaf Doctors Forum President Dr Mudir Khan, who called on him in the federal capital.

PM Imran described doctors as country’s precious asset and directed to take measures on priority for the removal of their reservations regarding the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) and National Licensing Exam (NLE).

"The whole world recognizes the capabilities of Pakistani doctors," the premier said.

Special Assistant to PM for National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan and K-P Health Minister Taimoor Saleem Jhagra were also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, the premier was briefed in detail about the progress of reforms in health sector while Dr Mudir apprised him of the reservations regarding MDCAT and NLE examination.
