Major General Babar Iftihar, Director-General of Interagency Public Relations, said on Saturday that “due to the situation in Afghanistan, there is a threat of reactivation of the hidden terrorist organization.
Major General Iftihar made the above remarks in a conversation with a private television news channel.
Military media spokespersons stated that the Pakistani army is “closely monitoring” the situation in the region and is “playing its role with an extremely serious attitude” to promote the complete success of the Afghan peace process.
“Pakistan spares no effort in the peace process,” he said, adding that the country is “not a guarantor country.”
“Ultimately, it is up to the Afghans to decide how to move forward,” DG ISPR said.
He said that Pakistan has “the greatest interest” in the issue of peace in Afghanistan.
Major General Iftihar said that the country “fought a long-term and testing war against terrorism and achieved exemplary success.”
He said: “According to (Army Commander-in-Chief) General Bajwa’s vision, very effective measures have been taken.”
Speaking of the Afghan border, he said that “all illegal border crossings have been blocked” and he has increased the deployment of troops to notification points.
“Pakistan’s peace largely depends on the peace of Afghanistan,” DG ISPR said.
He said that as long as Afghanistan is peaceful and stable, “it does not matter who is in power in Kabul.”
“The leader of the terrorist network sits in Afghanistan”
While continuing to discuss the recent unrest in Pakistan, he said that these are “related to the situation on the other side”.
He praised the Army’s continued success in various counter-terrorism operations, and said that “terrorists do not have an organized structure in Pakistan.”
Major General Iftihar said, “The leaders of these terrorist networks are all sitting in Afghanistan.”
He said that such terrorist networks are supported by the Indian intelligence agency RAW and the National Security Agency (NDS) of the National Intelligence and Security Agency of Afghanistan.
A military spokesperson added: “Recent incidents show that they are frustrated.”
KP’s counter-terrorism operations in Balochistan
Major General Iftihar said that there were 150 terrorist incidents in KP and Balochistan, and security forces carried out 7,500 operations in tribal areas and Balochistan.
“So far, 42 terrorists have been killed in these operations,” he said, adding: “Many of our own young people and officers have been martyred and injured.”
DG ISPR stated that the Pakistani army is “ready to suppress the hostile elements at any time”.
He vowed that the army will “never let the enemy of peace and prosperity succeed.”
“Our actions continue to go all out, and terrorists are fleeing,” he said.
“The war on terrorism is carried out with the support of the state”
A military spokesperson said that in the past 20 years, the war on terrorism was conducted “with the support of the state.”
“Pakistan lost billions of dollars in the war on terrorism,” he said.
Major General Iftihar continued to reveal that the armed forces had liberated 46,000 square kilometers from terrorists.
“Across Pakistan, approximately 18,000 terrorists have been killed,” he said, adding that the “forbidden zone” has ended.
He said that under the vision of “Radul Fasad”, all of this is possible, while clarifying that the use of force is the only prerogative of the country.
Major General Iftihar stated that various countries and institutions have recognized Pakistan’s key role in eliminating terrorism.
Border fence
Speaking of the border fence between Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said that all the fences on the Pakistani side will also benefit Afghanistan.
“The Chief of Staff of the Army called the Afghan fence a peaceful fence. It will not divide anyone,” Major General Iftihar said.
He said, on the contrary, it will promote peace and eliminate misunderstandings.
The spokesperson said: “Pakistan’s destabilizing instigators operate on the land of Afghanistan. We will not allow our land to be used against anyone, and we do not want others to use our land against us.”
India’s “huge” influence in Afghanistan
Major General Iftihar also talked about India’s influence in Afghanistan, saying that it has a “huge” influence on the country.
“India has invested billions of dollars in Afghanistan to lay a solid foundation for harming Pakistan,” DG ISPR said.
He said that Pakistan has evidence of India’s role in Afghanistan and shared a file with the international community in November.
“The archives show how India used Afghan intelligence agencies to reactivate anti-Pakistan organizations like TTP,” the major general said.
He said that there are 62 illegal TTP camps in Afghanistan.
“The signal from India is very clear: they are disappointed,” Major General Iftihar said.
DG ISPR stated that India’s influence in Afghanistan will not remain unchanged.
He said that India is the “biggest destroyer” of Afghanistan’s peace efforts.
