RAHIM YAR KHAN: More than 40 people were arrested on suspicion of participating in attacks on Hindu temples and blocking the highway of Rahim Yar Khan.

According to the police, 38 of the detainees were tried in a counter-terrorism court in Bahawalpur.

After appearing in court, the suspect was sent to prison for an identity parade.

CJP orders the arrest of criminals

Chief Justice Gulzal Ahmed had condemned the Punjab police chief for failing to take action to protect the Hindu temple from the Rahim Yar Khan mob a day ago and instructed him to arrest all criminals involved in the incident.

CJP also ordered the relevant authorities to charge criminals for the reconstruction of the temple.

On Thursday, a mob of more than a dozen men armed with clubs destroyed a Hindu temple in Bhong, Rahim Yar Khan village, chanting slogans and desecrating idols in places of worship.

Video clips of the incident went viral on social media and aroused sharp criticism from Pakistani rights activists.

This video also prompted Prime Minister Imran Khan to notice the incident.

Later that day, the prime minister condemned the incident on Twitter.
