India were dismissed for 266 after winning the toss and deciding to bat first against Pakistan in the highly-anticipated Asia Cup 2023 clash between the two sides at the Pallekele International Cricket Stadium on Saturday.

Ishan Kishan and Hardik Pandya scored fifties and brought their side back in the game after India had slipped to 66-4 inside 15 overs.

Pakistan are unchanged from the side that beat Nepal on Wednesday by 238 runs.

“We would have batted first, but toss is not in our hands. We have played a lot of cricket here, so we know the conditions. Top teams are playing so Asia Cup is good. We’ll try to do our best. It’s a high intensity match, we’ll try to be calm and composed,” Pakistan captain Babar Azam said at the toss.

Meanwhile, Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said: “There is a bit of weather around, but can’t think much about it. Got to play good cricket, you need to embrace the challenge, embrace the situation. We had some time off after the West Indies series. Everyone was up for those drills and challenges in Bangalore. Let’s see what we can achieve in this tournament.”
