On Sunday, K-Electric (KE) continued to crack down on illegal and unsafe electrical connections in the city, cutting off power to eight generators in six different locations in the Liaquatabad area.
According to a statement issued by the power company, in Quwatul Islam Colony in Liaquatabad and Blocks 3, 4, and 10 in the Nairag business district, more than 1,750 residential and commercial buildings have been illegally installed with 75 KVA to 150 KVA generators powered by.
Similarly, during a raid in Landhi, the KE team disconnected dangerous underground cables used for illegal power supply. The power company also urged the residents of Karachi to avoid such misconduct and switch to legal and safe metering connections. According to reports, during the crackdown, the KE team was resisted by locals in the area supported by those involved in the illegal contact. According to KE, further raids are expected in the coming days.
The power company also issued a warning that unauthorized use of KE infrastructure for illegal power supply may cause serious accidents during the monsoon season and pose a serious hazard to public safety.
