General Bajwa visits Afghanistan delegation

Rawalpindi: Chief of Staff of the Army (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa (Qamar Javed Bajwa) announced on Tuesday that Pakistan will stand together with the Afghan people and will make every effort to reach a reconciliation in Afghanistan.

An eight-member Afghan delegation met with General Bajwa at the headquarters in Rawalpindi, a statement issued by Inter-Service Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The members of the Afghan delegation included Salahuddin Rabbani, Muhammad Younis Qanooni, Ustad Muhammad Karim Khalili, Ahmed Zia Masoud, Ustad Muhammad Muhaqiq, Ahmed Wali Masoud, Abdul Latif Pidram and Khalid Noor.

During the meeting with the Afghan delegation, COAS discussed in detail the current situation in Afghanistan.

COAS stated that Pakistan hopes to establish “broad relations” with Afghanistan, adding that Pakistan is “willing to do everything possible” so that Afghanistan can reach an “inclusive solution.”

The Army Chief of Staff further stated that the settlement is vital to “regional peace and prosperity.”

The Afghan delegation affirmed and appreciated the sacrifices, efforts and contributions made by the Pakistani army to the peace, stability and socio-economic development of Afghanistan.

The delegation also expressed their views on the way forward for Afghanistan.
