Afghanistan recalls its ambassador to Pakistan due to “security threats”: Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Kabul: Afghanistan said on Sunday that it was recalling its ambassador to Islamabad and all high-level diplomats after the senior envoy’s daughter was briefly abducted in the Pakistani capital this week because of “security threats”.

“After the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan was kidnapped, the leaders of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan have recalled Afghan envoys and other high-level diplomats from Islamabad to Kabul until all security threats are eliminated,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said, calling for the arrest and prosecution of the kidnappers.

The daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan was briefly “kidnapped” by an unidentified attacker, causing her injuries and rope traces. The Pakistani authorities said they were investigating the matter.

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said on Sunday that the incident involving the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan “is not a kidnapping at all.”

He was referring to Indian intelligence agencies.

On Saturday, reports of the ambassador’s daughter being “kidnapped” and “tortured” a day ago surfaced, and the Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement stating that the girl was “kidnapped for several hours”.

In response, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement on Saturday stating that a thorough investigation has been launched and that law enforcement agencies are “working hard to track down and arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.”

The statement said that at the same time, the safety of the ambassador and his family has been “enhanced.”

Prime Minister Imran Khan has instructed the Minister of the Interior to investigate the matter within 48 hours.

Last night, the minister shared the latest situation of the investigation, saying that the woman used the services of two taxis and had contacted the driver of one taxi, while the other one will be tracked after the family provides a written statement.

Today, the minister said in an interview with Geographic News that the daughter first claimed that her mobile phone had been stolen, “then gave her mobile phone, but the data was deleted”.

He said that the CCTV footage at the time of the incident was reviewed and it was found that she had used three taxis instead of two.

Rashid said: “She took a taxi from Daman Koh and did not go home.”

The minister said that three videos have been reviewed and he is trying to get a fourth.

“The girl went from F-7 to Daman Koh, and then to the F-9 park area,” the minister said, describing the events of the day in detail.

He said that when the girl walked out of the house, she first went shopping at the Qatar Market.

The minister said that a point in her journey, before Gakhar Square, is currently a blind spot because the authorities have not yet been able to obtain footage of the area.

“This girl also used her mobile internet service during Daman Koh,” he said.

The minister went on to say that the pictures of girls circulating in the media “do not belong to girls”.
