Pakistan sends equipment to Bangladesh to help fight COVID-19

The Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka said on Thursday that it has provided life-saving medical equipment to help Bangladesh fight the coronavirus pandemic.

The High Commission stated in a statement that life-saving equipment has been provided to Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital in Dhaka.

The equipment will be used in a separate COVID-19 ward of the hospital, including 10 ventilators, 20 C-PAP breathing aids, 10 beds, elevators in the hospital building, and vehicles for ward staff.

High Commissioner Imran Ahmed Siddiqui handed over financial assistance to Ahsania Mission Kazi Rafiqul Alam this afternoon , Used to purchase locally sourced items.

On this occasion, High Commissioner Siddiqui emphasized Pakistan’s vision of establishing a regional partnership for peace and sustainable development, and at the same time reiterated its commitment to working with regional countries, especially Bangladesh, which has a fraternal relationship with Pakistan, to jointly respond to the pandemic. influences.

In this regard, the High Commissioner reviewed the telephone conversation between Prime Minister Imran Khan and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic last year.

In terms of regional cooperation, the High Commissioner stated that Pakistan has donated US$3 million to the SAARC COVID-19 Emergency Fund to support the region’s joint efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

He said: “Our cooperation with Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital strongly expresses our solidarity and support for our brothers and sisters in Bangladesh in fighting COVID.”

The High Commissioner added that this also proves Pakistan’s firm commitment to promoting regional cooperation under SAARC.

President Ahsania Mission Alam thanked the High Commission of Pakistan for its timely contributions and introduced the various projects of the hospital to the High Commissioner.
