CM Sindh may agree to a two-week lockdown in Karachi

• The Provincial Coronavirus Working Group will consider implementing a complete lockdown in Karachi today.
• The COVID-19 infection rate in Karachi has soared to alarming levels.
• If it is decided to blockade, educational institutions and inter-city and intra-city traffic will also be closed.

Karachi: A decision will be made today at the provincial working group meeting on the coronavirus at CM House on Friday to decide whether to impose a two-week lockdown on Karachi.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah will chair the meeting, and provincial ministers and healthcare experts will attend.

According to sources, the leaders of the political party’s parliament were also invited to attend the meeting for the first time.

The health department of Sindh province recommends the abolition of the two-week complete lockdown to curb the spread of the pandemic in Karachi, because the positive rate in Karachi has exceeded an alarming 30%.

In view of the disturbing situation of the COVID-19 outbreak in Karachi, the working group received a strong recommendation to implement a complete lockdown of the metropolis.

Medical experts and health authorities recommended that inter-city and intra-city commuting be stopped for two weeks.

According to sources, educational institutions have also been proposed to close for two weeks.
