ARY News quoted sources as reporting that PPP co-chair and former President Asif Ali Zardari had submitted a response to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) regarding the New York apartment case.
PPP co-chairman and former president Asif Ali Zardari denied owning expensive apartments in Manhattan. “I sold out the same year I bought the apartment,” the source quoted him as saying in his reply submitted through his lawyer.
The former president stated that he did not hold any public office when he bought the apartment, adding that he went to the United States (US) for treatment. He accused the corruption watchdog of making him take retaliatory action.
The bureau sent him a notice and a questionnaire to provide information about his Bel Air apartment. Subsequently, he obtained pre-arrest bail from the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to avoid being arrested by NAB.
