Without peace, Afghanistan cannot achieve security: Moeed Yusuf

Islamabad: National Security Adviser Moeed Yusuf talked about the situation in Afghanistan on Friday, as international forces have begun to withdraw from the country and said that security there cannot be achieved without peace.

In a speech to the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee at the Parliament Building, the security adviser said that the situation in this war-torn country is far from stable, adding that Pakistan cannot control events there.

Yusuf also questioned the claim that if there is no peace in Afghanistan, there will be no peace in Pakistan. He said that the Pakistani government is formulating a strategy for the future, adding that the government plans to connect with the world in terms of development, partnership and regional peace.

He also briefed the committee on the security measures the government has taken against Pakistan in terms of border security, and said that he has also formulated a special visa policy for Afghanistan.

Yusuf also talked about Pakistan’s military-civilian coordination and said that the problems that had occurred in this area in the past no longer exist.

Pakistan will not support Talibanization: FM Qureshi

Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi also told the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee that strengthening the Pakistani Taliban (TTP) ranks is not in Pakistan’s interests, and clearly stated that the country “will not support any form of Talibanization”. .”

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed concern about the possibility of a civil war after foreign troops completely withdraw from Afghanistan, and said that Pakistan does not want this situation to happen again.

He emphasized that the “sharing of power” among different factions in Afghanistan is the best option to avoid civil war.

Pakistan hopes that the Afghan refugees will return honorably, he said, this should be part of the peace process in Afghanistan.

The Foreign Minister stated that after the Taliban refused to participate in the Istanbul peace process, Pakistan held tripartite talks with Afghanistan and Turkey.

Speaking of Afghan refugees, he called on the international community to find a solution for their repatriation.

Foreign Minister Qureshi said that Pakistan welcomes China’s support for stabilizing Afghanistan.

He said that Pakistan’s relationship with Iran is getting stronger and he mentioned the agreement with Tehran to establish a border market.

FO welcomes contacts between Iran and Afghanistan

At the same time, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Zahid Hafiz Chaudhry said in a statement issued today that Pakistan welcomes contacts between Iran and Afghanistan to reach a political settlement through negotiations.

In response to the media about the visit of the Taliban and the Afghan government delegation to Tehran, he said that Pakistan believes that Iran’s role in the peace process in Afghanistan is “very important.”

Chaudhry said that Iran, like Pakistan, is a neighboring country of Afghanistan, hosting millions of Afghan refugees.

He expressed the hope that all parties in Afghanistan will seize the opportunity to achieve an inclusive, comprehensive and comprehensive political settlement.
