Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Tuesday urged Afghan leaders to negotiate a political settlement “as soon as possible” because international forces have withdrawn from the country.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed these views during a meeting with Afghan Foreign Minister Hanif Atmar during the meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Council of Foreign Ministers in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Qureshi said “Such an outcome will bring peace, stability and prosperity to Afghanistan.”

During the meeting of foreign ministers, the two sides exchanged views on the latest development and direction of the situation in Afghanistan.

Qureshi reiterated that Pakistan has always supported a peacefully unified Afghanistan and live in peace with itself and its neighbors.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs “represented that Afghan leaders should seize historical opportunities, use international consensus, and work together to reach an inclusive, broad-based and comprehensive political solution to finally resolve the conflict in Afghanistan”.

He expressed concern about the “high level of violence, which caused countless lives” and emphasized the need to “immediately take measures to reduce violence and achieve a complete ceasefire.”

The Foreign Minister emphasized that negative remarks “cannot conceal Pakistan’s positive contribution to the Afghan peace process, and this blame game will not serve the region”. The Foreign Minister urged his Afghan counterparts to “solve all concerns through established institutional mechanisms, including AAPPS” .

He said that Pakistan looks forward to holding the APAPPS review meeting in Islamabad as soon as possible.

“Pakistan supports a peaceful and stable Afghanistan, which will produce common dividends and benefits in terms of regional peace, economic prosperity, and regional connectivity,” the FO statement said at the end.

“Pakistan hopes to adopt a joint strategy for Afghanistan through regional consultations”

Later that day, Qureshi issued a statement saying that Pakistan hopes to adopt a joint strategy for Afghanistan after consulting with important countries in the region.

“As Pakistan fulfills its responsibilities, the improvement of the situation in Afghanistan will benefit everyone.

Qureshi said in a statement in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan: “God bless, if the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates, everyone will be affected.”

The Foreign Minister said that since he attended the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Council of Foreign Ministers meeting in Tajikistan, he hopes to take this opportunity to discuss the situation in Afghanistan with important countries in the region, which are also paying attention to the situation in Afghanistan. .

He said that after detailed discussions with the foreign minister of Tajikistan on the situation in Afghanistan on Monday, he held talks with the foreign ministers of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and Afghanistan today.

He said that he also looks forward to meeting the Chinese and Russian foreign ministers.

The foreign minister stated that India’s role as a saboteur in Afghanistan “disrupted regional peace”.

He stated that India “should allow Afghanistan to live in peace” and urged the international community to prohibit it from showing negative attitudes.

Qureshi said that the situation in Afghanistan directly affects neighboring countries and provides a great opportunity for advancing the consultation process.

The foreign minister said that Pakistan is the only country that has hosted 3 million Afghan refugees for decades despite limited resources. However, he said that if the situation in Afghanistan deteriorates again, it will not be able to accept more refugees.

The minister said that Pakistan has sacrificed 70,000 lives, suffered huge economic losses, and paid a heavy price in the war on terrorism.

He said that since some anti-Palestinian elements may enter Afghanistan under the guise of Afghan refugees, Afghanistan must remain cautious.

Qureshi said that he believes that most Afghan refugees living in Pakistan are innocent and hopes that they will return to their country.

He said that Pakistan hopes to help the Afghan people on humanitarian grounds, but also hopes to ensure the safety and security of its people.

He emphasized that it also hopes that Afghanistan will achieve sustainable peace and stability.

“How long will it take to give pointers to Pakistan?” he asked.

He urged Afghans not to repeat the same mistakes, but to sit together and find a way forward.

“We invite important Afghan figures for dialogue.

“The Afghan leaders should sit together and tell us how we can help them,” he added.
