Facebook’s messaging platform WhatsApp has launched a new feature called Archived chats, allowing users to focus on important messages instead of all other messages that pop up on the platform.
WhatsApp said today that it is rolling out new settings for archived chats, which will provide users with more control over the inbox, and there will be many options to organize archived chat folders.
The company said in a statement that WhatsApp Archived Chats allows users to organize private messages and prioritize important conversations.
WhatsApp further stated that many users have been requesting that archived messages should be hidden in archived chat folders instead of being added to the main chat list.
Imagine this means that any message thread that appears to have been archived will continue to remain in the archived chat folder, even if a new message is sent to that thread.
If the user chooses to unarchive the conversation, only the conversation will appear, otherwise it will be permanently hidden. WhatsApp users will have the option of answering how the archived chat works before the update.
WhatsApp said in a statement: “We know that not everything must always be the first priority for you. We want to ensure that WhatsApp remains a private and safe place where you can talk to the people who are most important to you. And you can control your messages.”
The messaging platform has been testing this feature for some time. In 2019, the beta version was released, but it was subsequently withdrawn.
