Lahore: Pakistani weightlifter Talha Talib returned to Pakistan from Japan on Friday morning after participating in the Tokyo Olympics.
Officials of the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation, athletes and a large number of fans arrived and gave him a heroic welcome at the airport.
The 21-year-old weightlifter won the fifth place in the 67kg class with an overall weightlifting performance of 320kg and won the national crown.

In the third attempt at the clean and jerk, Talha Talib lifted 170 kilograms, more than twice his weight.
“I thank Allah and the country for their prayers,” the weightlifting star said in an interview with the media at the airport.
“I thank the Pakistan Weightlifting Federation and the Olympic Association. I owe my success to the country. I am very happy that the Pakistani flag is flying higher.”

Talha also reiterated that if the government provides appropriate support, he will overcome all his mistakes and be determined to win the gold medal next time.
The weightlifter stated that he looks forward to achieving his own results in the Commonwealth Games and the World Championships scheduled to be held in October.
Talha missed the bronze medal with a slight advantage of two kilograms, but he won the hearts of Pakistanis all over the world because of his outstanding performance in the Olympics.
