Ways to make better use of Google Drive

Must Read

One of the best ways to deal with a laptop’s storage issues is to transfer files to Google Drive. It has gained massive popularity due to its countless helpful features and easy-to-use interface. Drive makes it easier to not only store files but also collaborate with others through the online setting.

If you are a new or an avid user of Google Drive, here are some tips to make better use of it;

1. Make the best use of the Search Bar

If you are someone who has uploaded everything on the drive and now has to find some specific document, then the search bar comes to the rescue.

You can quickly type the name of the document and find it. You can also use Boolean operators such as to: from type: AND, OR, owner: title: before: and others to further streamline the search.

2. Color code the folders

If you like to keep documents organised and easier to navigate, this option is for you. To categorise specific folders, you can colour-code them. To do so, right-click on any folder and select “Change Color” from the menu. You will find a wide range of colours to choose from.

3. Use all the shortcuts

Google Drive has a lot of keyboard shortcuts that can make it easier and quicker to navigate the platform. To know all the shortcuts it offers, press the ‘ctrl’ and ‘/’ keys, and you will find the list of all keyboard shortcuts.

4. Offline access to files

While Google Drive is known to be an online platform, it also offers the flexibility to access files when offline. To do so, go to Google Drive > Settings > Offline and tick the box next to Create, open, and edit your recent Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides files on this device.
