Pakistani star athlete Arshad Nadeem received a prize of Rs 1 million from TV host Waqar Zaka for his outstanding performance at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
The athlete received a gift from Xhaka when he returned to Pakistan. Xhaka broadcasted the handover of the gift on his Facebook page.
Zhaka said that the purpose of donating money is to thank Nadim for his efforts.
He added that he had promised on a local TV show that no matter what he earned from social media, he would donate part of it to Nadim.
“We made enough money to support our people,” Wakar Zaka said.
Speaking of India, Zhaka pointed out that the country has promised to provide gifts for their athletes. “Pakistans should not rely on the government to appreciate these athletes,” he said.
He added that the purpose of this payment is also to “encourage” other athletes.
Xhaka told the athletes that they should check the Olympic records and list their goals on Google.
If the athletes can achieve their goals, not only him, but the entire country will support them.
