Unruly crowd taunts ministers in Madina

Must Read

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his ministers on Friday were stuck in Saudi Arabia’s Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH), located in the holy city of Madina, as some people, apparently supporters of the PTI, gathered around them, shouting slogans of “thieves” and “beggars” – one of the pictures captured on the scene showing the premier sitting in a vehicle visibly perturbed over the incident.

In a series of videos doing the rounds on social media, the miscreants can be seen specifically targeting Narcotics Minister Nawab Shahzain Bugti, calling him a“shameless” and a “lota”. In fact, one of them even grabbed him by his hair. The minister then ran after that person but to no avail.

"Chor! Chor!": Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation were bombarded by chants of "thieves" and "beggars" hurled at them by some “frustrated” Pakistanis as they arrived in Madina.

In another video, Bugti can be seen taken away by security personnel in a bid to keep him safe but the miscreants continued running after him shouting slogans against him.

The second person to feel the fury of the enraged lot was Federal Information Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb.

One of the miscreants could be heard shouting obscenities at her.

The premier had arrived in the holy city of Madina on a three-day official visit with his cabinet members and parliamentarians.

Speaking to reporters after the incident, the information minister said it reflected the destruction of the society.

“I don’t want to name that person [ex-PM Imran Khan] in this holy place. In fact, there should be no political talk here,” she added.

Marriyum further said there was a large segment of the society that had fallen victim to this kind of attitude but in time, thing would change for the better.

“Our activists are also here. But we have strictly told them not to resort to hooliganism.”

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said the “evil spread by Imran Niazi” had not even spared the the Roza-e-Rasool — the grave of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“A place of peace, love and safety has been used for politics,” he added.

“Today, the mindset of Imran Niazi has violated the sanctity of the Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) .”

Pakistan Ulema Council Chairman Tahir Mahmood Ashrafi Thursday also expressed his disgust over the incident.

After an onslaught of enraged Pakistanis greeted PM Shehbaz Sharif and his delegation in Masjid-e-Nabwi, Marriyum Aurangzeb said in a video statement that it was a pity “a political leader” would encourage this sort of mob mentality in the society.

In a video statement, he said at Masjid-e-Nabawi (PBUH), Muslims were meant to bow their heads and lower their voices instead of chanting dirty slogans and hurling allegations at the time of Iftar on 27th of Ramazan.

He added that those who had indulged in this behaviour had brought shame to their country.

Imported govt of criminals brought in by US regime change conspiracy is met with chants of "thieves" in Madina Sharif. Wherever they will go Pakistanis will shame this band of crooks. Any remorse within the Dark Shadows now? #MarchAgainstImportedGovt pic.twitter.com/sTmDhGvKnH
