To coincide with the 246th Independence Day of the United States on July 4, the Pakistan Arts Council and the US Consulate in Karachi held an online concert.
The event showcased the power of music to bring people together, including Pakistani and American songs, and a fusion song that blends the sounds of the two countries.
The Mary McBride band from the United States played Pakistan’s national anthem and American pop and rock songs. The Voice of Korach from Karachi played the American national anthem. The Karachi Folk Orchestra composed of Mai Dhai, Arman Rahim and Wahab Bugti conducted by Ahsan Bari performed Pakistani music from Sindh and Balochistan.
The concert also included collaborations between Pakistani artist Muhammad Khan and American artist Ben Wright, who combined the Balochistan banjo with the American bluegrass banjo. US Consul General Robert Silberstein welcomed the audience and emphasized the power of bilateral relations between the two countries. He said: “The United States will continue to support investment in education and human connections.”
