Twitter adds third-party registrations with Apple and Google | Technology News

Weibo platform Twitter finally launched third-party login support, which will allow users to create accounts and log in to the platform with their Apple or Google accounts.

According to a report, Twitter now allows users to associate their existing accounts with Apple or Google accounts, as long as the email is the same.

This feature was launched for beta users last month and is now widely available to everyone. The registration process is like a simplified version of the regular process, because there are no emails or passwords to deal with.

Currently, the login experience is not universal. According to Twitter Support, you can log in with Google on iOS, Android, and the Web, but using Apple is currently only available for iOS, but Web support is coming soon.

The current version of Twitter for the Mac desktop application does not seem to support any login method. On Android, it seems impossible to log in to an account created by Apple.

The “Continue with Apple” button does not exist, and the traditional Twitter login using Apple ID password does not seem to work. In addition, users may not be able to change their password after creating an account. Apple login, because this page requires the current password.

The Twitter support page does mention that they can disconnect their Apple or Google accounts, but it is limited to the Internet, and Apple users cannot log in yet. Google users can perform a password reset after disconnecting their account.

It seems no accident that the login process of Google and Apple started at the same time. If the app allows any other third parties to log in, Apple’s app store guidelines clearly require the app to include Apple as an option.
