Three takeaways from the women’s 50m rifle 3 position event as Anjum Moudgil, Tejaswini Sawant failed to qualify for the final

Anjum Moudgil and Tejaswini Sawant ended their campaign in the qualifying stage of the 2021 Olympic Women’s 50m rifle 3-position event. Neither of them can make it to the final of the top 8 shooters.

Anjum Moudgil, ranked 27th in the world, ranked 15th with a score of 1167-54x/1600, while Tejaswini Sawant, ranked 28th in the world, ranked 33rd with 37 shooters with a score of 1154-50x/1600.

#1 Anjum Moudgil gave her everything:

Throughout the qualifiers, the 27-year-old Anjum Moudgil has been competing for the 8-man shooter final. Her scores are distributed as follows:

Kneeling-99, 98, 96, 97 total score-390/400 points

Propensity-98, 100, 98, 99 Total score-395/400 points

Standing-94, 96, 95, 97 Total score-382/400 points

Anjum Moudgil performed exceptionally well in her “prone” position. During this period, she even scored a perfect 100 points for the 2nd series. Before she started her “standing” position, she was ranked sixth on the qualification leaderboard.

However, the slow start of her “stand up” round proved costly. In addition to countless 9 points, Anjum Moudgil also shot a few 8 points.

Despite having higher scores compared to the two ISSF World Cups this year, Anjum Moudgil failed to pass the qualifying competition for the women’s 50m rifle 3-position event for the 2021 Olympics.

#2 Tejaswini Sawant cannot cope with this situation:

The 2018 Commonwealth Games gold medalist has many expectations. In a career spanning more than ten years, she faces the Olympic challenge for the first time today. The breakdown of her score is:

Kneeling-97, 92, 98, 97 total score-384/400 points

Propensity-99, 98, 99, 98 Total score-394/400 points

Standing-94, 93, 95, 94 Total score-376/400 points

Her second series in the “kneeling” position pulled her back with only 92/100 points. She did bounce back in a very precise way. However, the total number of her “standing” positions is too low to push her into the top 8 shooters group.

#3 Sanjeev Rajput and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar are India’s last hope:

The Indian shooting team has raised many expectations during this Olympic cycle. However, their efforts did not achieve the expected results. They have not won any medals in the ongoing Olympics.

The last event represented by India is the men’s 50m rifle 3-place competition at the 2021 Olympic Games. The goal of Sanjeev Raput and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar is to save some pride from the disappointing campaign.
