Three fishermen died after eating chemicals

According to police officials, three fishermen died after consuming a chemical in the Ibrahim Hyderi area and five others were taken to the hospital in critical condition.

They said the incident occurred near the beach early on Wednesday morning, adding that the victim was taken to Jinnah Graduate Medical Center and the Indus Hospital in Korangi.

Police said the doctor declared three of them dead upon arrival. They said the dead were identified as Salim, Rashid and Shabaz. According to the initial statement provided to the police by the surviving victims, they caught a bottle in the fishing net and thought it was alcohol, but it turned out to be some chemicals. Officials said the survivors were identified as Ismail, Geneid, Samir, Inan and Gul Hassan.

District Malir SSP Irfan Bahadur confirmed that there was no wine in the bottle but a certain chemical substance, saying that they had sent the bottle to the laboratory to determine what type it was
