The Sindh Provincial Government suspends all examinations and bans gatherings in educational institutions

After implementing a nine-day lockdown on Karachi since July 31, the Sindh provincial government completely banned public gatherings at educational institutions, training and coaching centers, and suspended the ongoing examinations until August 8.

According to the order of the provincial government, the Sindh Technical Education Commission (SBTE) suspended the 2021 associate engineering diploma annual examination until August 8. In this regard, SBTE has issued notices in related organizations, technical education centers, and examination centers.

At the same time, Urdu University of Arts and Technology-two of its campuses have been operating in Karachi-also issued a notice on the order of the provincial government. The FUUAST Acting Registrar has notified faculty, staff and teachers to suspend academic activities on campus. The university can call any teaching and non-teaching staff to provide basic services. However, the registrar indicated that the online exam will be conducted according to the schedule.

Similarly, the Karachi Middle School Education Committee postponed the practice exam for the 2021 secondary school certificate annual exam. However, BSEK has not issued any notice regarding this. The Karachi Board of Intermediate Education (BIEK) has suspended the first stage of the annual high school certificate examination until August 8.

At the same time, universities and board departments have instructed all education committees, degree-granting institutions, technical education centers, venture capital companies, and boards of directors to suspend ongoing examinations.

“All public and private universities, degree-granting institutions, and educational committees scheduled from July 31 to August 8 under the administrative control of the University and the Board of Directors’ examinations have been postponed. The new examination schedule will be announced at a later date. ,” as a statement issued by the university and the board of directors said.

As the province continues to fight the dangerous surge in COVID-19 infections, the Sindh provincial government has decided to lock down immediately until August 8. Effective tomorrow (Saturday).

This was decided at a meeting chaired by the Chief Minister of Sindh Province Murad Ali Shah, which was attended by provincial ministers, medical experts and representatives of the Pakistan Medical Association (PMA).

The parliamentary leaders of political parties were also invited for the first time to participate in the COVID-19 working group meeting. In addition, Sindh Ranger DG was also invited.

The Tagil Action Committee in Karachi rejected the Sindh government’s decision to blockade. Rizwan Irfan of the Tajir Action Committee stated that the organization was disappointed with the decision of CM in Sindh.

“We have called on government delegations not to impose a total blockade,” Irfan said, adding that the trader group had recommended extending business hours.

The Health Department of Sindh Province has proposed a two-week blockade of the working group, while medical experts have proposed a two-week ban on intercity traffic. It is also proposed to close all educational institutions and educational activities for two weeks.

The National Command and Operations Center opposed the idea of ​​a complete blockade in Karachi. Asad Umar, head of NCOC, stated that closing the entire city for several weeks will not cure it.

However, the Sindh provincial government has stated that it does not care what the federation says, and the only direct solution to reduce the number of cases of the virus is lockdown.
