On Friday, a teenage girl recorded her statement to a man who allegedly raped her in an orphanage in the city last month.

The victim’s statement was recorded in her room by a female judge in the Eastern District, after which the document was sealed and opened in the court of first instance. The suspect, Mehdi Hasan, is an employee of the Kashmir Road orphanage where the girl has lived for ten years. He also appeared in court after the second remand.

Investigators told the judge that since the interrogation of the suspect has been completed, there is no longer a need to detain the suspect. He submitted a progress report before the judge.

After accepting the report, the judge sent the suspect to prison for judicial detention and ordered the IO to submit a form of charges against the suspect within two weeks.

After the victim’s aunt reported to the Jamshed Quarters Police Station, the suspect was arrested. She said that since her parents died 10 years ago, her niece has been living in an orphanage. She added that she went to see her on June 13, when her niece told her what happened to her.

The victim said that the suspect was an accountant in the orphanage and called her to the office on May 26 and raped her. She added that the suspect also threatened her not to tell anyone. Otherwise, she will face dire consequences.
