The pandemic will not end after 9 days of lockdown “but the hospital will not suffocate”: Sindh CM

After the Sindh Provincial Government announced on Friday that it would implement a nine-day blockade in Karachi from July 31 to August 8, the Chief Minister of Sindh Province Murad Ali Shah gave a speech at a press conference in response to the Concerns and criticisms of the decision.

The Chief Minister said that some people say that “the pandemic will not end in nine days”, but it must be understood that “the hospital will not suffocate” during this period.

In response to a question about why a 9-day lockdown was announced instead of a 15-day lockdown, Shah said that the working group admitted at today’s meeting that this period of time – equivalent to five days of actual lockdown, and four days will be no matter what, The regular rest day of the enterprise will be the rest day that “will cause the least economic loss”.

He added that doctors agreed that “it is better than nothing.”

“At least a break will be provided-think of it as a speed reducer that slows down,” Shah said.

The chief minister said: “Then, when we reopen, I hope that people will continue to follow the SOP, so we will not be forced to repeat such a move.”

Shah said that after the meeting, he talked with Assad Omar, the head of the National Command and Operations Center, and Dr. Faisal Sultan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister for Health, “They all assured me of the center’s cooperation.”

“No matter what we notify, it is negotiated and allowed for NCOC to join.”

The Chief Minister of Sindh stated that the order applies to the entire Sindh province, “but our focus is on Karachi because it is the worst place.”

He said that there will be no examinations from Monday to Friday and the two weekends during the lock-in period.

In response to whether it would require private organizations to remain closed, Shah said that the government “recommends that they do indeed remain closed or keep employees to a minimum”.

“The purpose is to keep anyone from leaving their home unless there is an emergency,” he explained.

The Chief Minister of Sindh urged all media professionals to encourage everyone to get vaccinated because all vaccines provide protection.

“The proportion of people who have been vaccinated is extremely low among those who have died from the coronavirus,” he said.

Shah said that in the next nine days, people should “forget everything else and focus on vaccinations.”

He admitted that people may have to wait in long lines to get vaccinated, but “but this is to your advantage.”

Regarding a question, he said that the government is trying to increase the number of vaccination centers and mobile vaccination centers, and is considering Ulama’s proposal to use mosques and imambagahs in exercises.

The Chief Minister of Sindh said that people wearing masks “will not be caught”, and he “found that people who don’t wear masks will not be caught”.

Shah said that the current lockdown is not as severe as the one implemented in March last year, and believes that the rapid and firm lockdown in March 2020 is one of the main reasons why the COVID infection is not overwhelming in the province.
