Thousands of fans held their breath and waited for the Kashmir Premier League (KPL) game to begin today (Friday). Management has placed all players, management and support personnel in the league’s biosecurity bubble as part of the security agreement. Protect them from the coronavirus.

Considering the coronavirus outbreak in the past year or so, the decision to place players, management and support personnel has become a necessary move.

This development occurred at a time when the delta variant of the coronavirus caused severe damage in many countries around the world and caused a surge in coronavirus cases in India and Pakistan.

Biosafety foam

The biosafety bubble or bubble is a new term that has emerged in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic that has been raging around the world since December 2019. It is the organization of sports events. It needs to hold events in a centralized location.

It usually involves strict isolation and following safety protocols to curb the chance of infection spreading in the bubble.

The biosafety bubble consists of locations close to each other, including player residences (such as hotels), training facilities, and competition venues. The biosafety protocol requires all participants, including players, team staff, and other staff (such as broadcast staff on site) to undergo proper COVID-19 screening and testing before entering. They may not leave it until the event is over.

All 100 rooms in the local hotel have been reserved for the KPL team and officials. In addition, a separate breakfast and gym training time were allocated to the team according to the Covid-19 SOP.

For training purposes, all six teams are divided into two groups to avoid crowded spaces.

The KPL management also restricted the number of spectators who visited the venue to watch the live cricket match.

KPL President Arif Malik said in an interview with Geo News that only 30% of the audience will be allowed to watch the KPL game.

“Only people who have been vaccinated can land,” he said.

The head of KPL also announced that with the help of the local government, a vaccination center will be set up at the competition venue. Arif Malik said that as long as the audience is on the ground, they must also comply with the basic Covid-19 SOP.

KPL cricket match starts today

The first edition of KPL will start today in Muzaffarabad, Azad Kashmir. The premier cricket tournament will last 10 days.

As of August 17, the league will have 6 teams competing for this famous trophy in 18 games. These teams are Rawalakot Hawks, Kotli Lions, Mirpur Royals, Muzaffarabad Tigers, Overseas Warriors and Bagh Stallions.

The Mirpur Royals will compete under the captain of Shoaib Malik, Bagh Stallions will compete with captain Shadab Khan for the trophy, and the Muzaffarabad Tigers will fight under the leadership of Muhammed Hafeez. Imad Wasim will lead the Overseas Warriors, Fakhar Zaman will lead the Kotli Lions, and Afridi will lead the Rawalakot Hawks.

KPL 2021 timetable

At the same time, KPL management has released the schedule for the game starting on August 6.

According to detailed information, the first game will be between Rawlakot Hawks and Kotli Lions, while Bagh Stallions and Kotli Lions will be played on August 7.

KPL’s first qualifier will be held on August 14.

The first and second knockout rounds are scheduled to be held on August 15th and 16th, and the final match of the game will be held on the 17th.
