Islamabad: According to national command and operation data, the number of patients recovering from COVID-19 in Pakistan exceeded 1 million on Friday, and the death toll was close to 25,000.

NCOC statistics show that after 51,982 COVID-19 tests have been conducted, 3,239 new cases have been reported in the past 24 hours, and the total number of infections has risen to 1,116,886.

The number of patients who are active or currently sick is 89,673, which is the highest level since 89,661 active cases were recorded in the country on May 2.

After recording 3,027 survivors, NCOC counted 1,002,430 recovered cases. At the same time, another 70 people died of this disease, bringing the death toll to 24,783.

As of August 20, out of 51,982 tests, the daily positive rate or the rate of infected patients was 6.23%. The World Health Organization recommends a ratio of less than 5%, because a high number may mean high transmission.
