‘The Afghan government has the responsibility to monitor and inspect Da’esh in Afghanistan’

A few days ago, FM Qureshi made it clear in a statement that the Afghan government has the responsibility to monitor Da’esh’s presence in the country and prevent its growth, but the media misunderstood this.

Shah Mahmoud Qureshi said at a press conference in Raza Hall in Multan on Saturday that the Afghan army is capable of fighting Da’esh in Afghanistan.

“No one wants ISIS to grow. They [the Afghan government] Don’t want it, the Taliban don’t want it, Iran doesn’t want it, [Afghanistan’s] Neighbors don’t want it, and the international community doesn’t want it,” the foreign minister said.

In response to Moscow’s claim that Daesh militants arrived in Afghanistan from Iraq, Libya and Syria to engage in terrorist activities, he stated that the Afghan government has the responsibility to monitor the militants and prevent them from growing in Afghanistan.

“If they are transferred from Iraq and Syria, who will check them? This is the responsibility of the Afghan government!”

They are moving to the sovereign territory of Afghanistan. Who should follow them? Who should monitor them? This is the responsibility of the Afghan government,” the foreign minister said.

“I hope they will not ignore their responsibilities,” he added.
