Lahore: The Punjab Ministry of Higher Education (HED) has issued the 2021 Intermediate and Preparatory Examination Policy.
According to the notice issued by HED, candidates must pass all examinations related to their elective subjects.
The notice stated that the scores obtained in elective subjects will be counted towards the scores of compulsory subjects.
In addition, the scores of elective subjects in the second year will be regarded as the scores of the first year’s subjects.
The new policy stipulates that if candidates wish to improve some of their scores, they will only need to take the exams in elective subjects.
However, if preparatory students want to improve their grades, they must choose math exams and elective subjects.
The notice added that if students fail in all elective subjects, they will have to take the exam again.
Candidates who pass the elective subjects will get 50% marks in practice.

In exercising the powers conferred by Article 12(6) of the Punjab Provincial Intermediate and Secondary Education Commission Act 1976 (No. 13 of 1976), the Governor of Punjab is pleased to issue the following instructions to the Intermediate and Secondary Education Commission in COVID-19 In the context of 2021, the annual examination and the declaration of all examination results will take effect immediately:
High School Certificate (HSSC) Exam
1. Candidates for the following categories of HSSC (Part 2) or 2021 Intermediate Part 2 exams can only appear in the second part of the elective subjects. They must pass all elective subjects. The passing scores of elective subjects (Part-II) are reflected in the compulsory subjects of Part-II. The corresponding subjects in the first part should be given the same score:
- i) Appeared in Part-1
- ii) Take a comprehensive exam
- iii) Reappear in Part-I and Part-1
- iv) Reappear in Part-I and Part-1
- v) Reappear only in the first part vi)
- vi) Score increase in Part-I and Part-1
- vii) Score improvements that appeared in Part 1
- viii) In addition to compulsory subjects, participate in score improvement (subjects).
- ix) Appeared in Shahadat-ul-Sa’anvia Khasa and medical technology group

2. Candidates who take the 2021 HSSC Part-I exam again do not need to take the exam. They will receive the average scores previously obtained in all passing subjects in the first part.
3. HSSC candidates who take the 2021 Part-1 exam to improve their scores will appear in the HSSC Part-1 elective subjects. They must pass all elective subjects. The average score of the passing subjects (Part 1) will be reflected in the remaining compulsory subjects in Part 1.
4. Candidates who apply for the HSSC compulsory subject score improvement or retest in 2021 do not need to take the exam. They will each receive a percentage of the average score previously obtained in all passing subjects in the relevant Part 1 or Part 2.
5. Candidates for the 2021 HSSC (annual) examination supplementary subjects should appear in the relevant subjects or subjects in Part-II. The scores obtained in the additional subjects or subjects in the second part shall be awarded to the corresponding subjects or subjects in the first part.
6. Candidates in nursing/homeopathy etc. and classical language group (Aloom-e-Sharqia), as well as candidates seeking equivalents from IBCC should be reviewed in all relevant subjects of HSSC. The results should be announced based on the factual scores obtained in the subjects.
7. Candidates who have taken the HSSC Part-1 test can only participate in the elective courses of Part-I. They must pass all elective subjects. The average grade of the passing subjects (Part 1) will be reflected in the remaining compulsory subjects in Part 1.
Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examination:
8. In the 2021 SSC (Part-II) examination, candidates in the following categories can only appear in Part-II elective subjects and mathematics. They must pass all subjects. The average score obtained in the passing subjects (Part 2) should be reflected in the remaining compulsory subjects in Part 2. The corresponding subjects in the first part should be given the same score:
- Appeared in the second part
- Take a comprehensive exam
- Reappears in Part-l and Part-1 iv)
- Appears again in the first part and part-||
- Reappeared in Part 2 only to improve the scores of Part 1 and Part 1
- Score improvements that appeared in Part 1
- In addition to compulsory subjects, there is an increase in scores (subjects).
9. Candidates who take the 2021 SSC Part-1 exam again do not need to take the exam. They will receive the average scores previously obtained in all passing subjects in the first part.
10. SSC candidates who take the 2021 Part-1 exam to improve their scores should take the SSC Part-1 elective subjects and mathematics.They must pass all elective subjects and the average score obtained in the passing subjects (Part 1) in mathematics should be reflected in the remaining compulsory subjects in Part 1
11. Candidates who only take the 2021 SSC exam with improved scores or retakes in compulsory subjects do not need to take the exam. They will each receive a percentage of the average score previously obtained in all passing subjects in the relevant Part 1 or Part 1.
12. Candidates who participate in the supplementary subjects of the SSC (annual) examination in 2021 should take the relevant subjects or subjects in the second part. The points obtained in the additional subjects or subjects in the second part shall be awarded to the corresponding subjects in the first part.
13. Candidates such as Shahadat-ul-Sa’anvia Aama and O Level who seek equivalence from IBCC should be reviewed in all relevant subjects to obtain SSC equivalence. The results should be announced based on the factual scores obtained in the subjects.
14. Candidates who take SSC Part-l as new candidates can only take Part-1 elective subjects and mathematics. They must pass all elective subjects and mathematics.The average score obtained in the passing subjects (Part 1) should be reflected in the remaining compulsory subjects in Part 1
15. In the 2021 HSSC or SSC exam, candidates who fail any subjects will be treated as failing subjects.
2021 Intermediate Practical Exam Policy/ 2021 Intermediate Practical Exam Policy
16. Practical exams for the 2021 HSSC/SSC exams are not allowed, and only eligible candidates will be awarded the same scores as follows:
All eligible candidates will receive 50% of the total practice score, and the remaining 50% will be allocated based on their theoretical scores in the relevant subjects.
17. The Intermediate and Secondary Education Committee shall mention the following statement in the intermediate and secondary education transcripts and certificates in Part 1 (2021 and 2022):
“The scores awarded are the best predictions of performance and are awarded in accordance with the COVID-19 exam policy, so they are considered valid and fair.”
18. The above-mentioned students will be selected in the required and elective courses of HSSC/SSC next year, depending on the situation.
19. If you have any dissatisfaction with these instructions, please apply in writing. The remedial measures for the appeal should be submitted to the Punjab Committee Chairperson Committee (PBCC), which should make a decision within 30 days after receiving the application, and the decision made by the above-mentioned committee shall be final.
