Lahore: Journalists Amir Mir and Imran Shafqat were released on Saturday by the cybercrime unit of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FIA) after the two submitted personal guarantees.

A source inside the FIA told Geographic News The reporter has provided written answers to the allegations against them.
According to Mir’s statement, he denied all allegations against him, saying that his struggle as a journalist was aimed at defending Pakistan’s interests.
Mir claimed in the statement: “The allegations of harm to Pakistan’s interests are baseless.”
Similarly, Shafkat also refuted the allegations against him, calling them “false and baseless.”
According to the FIA, these reporters have been under Article 469 (forgery for the purpose of damaging reputation), 500 (punishment for defamation), 505 (remarks that cause public mischief), and 509 (words, gestures or actions intended to insult humble) be accused. Women’s Penal Code of Pakistan.
It said these journalists were arrested on suspicion of slandering respected judges, the Pakistani army and disrespecting women.
The FIA spokesperson stated that the information and programs broadcast on the two channels run by reporters are “designed to weaken the country’s trust in state institutions.”
He said the reporters have been released on bail, but their investigation is still ongoing.
He added that the FIA will submit the case for investigation after collecting more evidence against journalists.
Earlier in the day, the cybercrime department of the FIA had detained Mill and Shafkat, but it was not clear at the time the charges they were charged with.
