The counter-terrorism court has instructed the police to call witnesses in a case involving Amir Khan, the leader of Pakistan’s MQM-P movement, about sheltering a target killer at his former party headquarters.

According to the prosecutor, Khan was arrested in the 1990 raid and he was the head of its security. It added that 26 high-profile convicted and absconded suspects were also detained with him.

The other suspects were charged separately for possession of illegal weapons and were recently convicted by ATC and sentenced to 6 to 10 years in prison. At the same time, the previous case against them is still under trial.

In this case, Khan was accused of providing asylum to these suspects with the knowledge of Nine Zero, and the police also claimed that he himself admitted to doing so when he was interrogated after being arrested.

The indictment added that the statements of the 26 men were also part of the case and will be recorded in court again during the trial. However, they have not yet appeared in court.

The FIR was registered under Section 21-J (harbouring) and 11-V (directing terrorist activities) of the Anti-Terrorism Act based on a complaint by a paramilitary officer of the Azizabad Police Department. If found guilty, these charges will be sentenced to seven years in prison.
