The Chairman of Karachi Press Club rejects the Minister of Information’s statement on the media decree proposed by the government

Karachi Press Club Chairman Fazir Jamili announced on Friday that the statement by the Minister of Information Fawad Chowdhury on the Pakistan Media Development Authority (PMDA) bill was “contrary to the facts”.

Chowdhury claimed in a statement that all news clubs in the country support the bill.

In response to the matter today, Jamili said that Chowdhury’s statement is far from the truth because he does not support the bill.

At the same time, Arshad Ansari, chairman of the Lahore Press Club, also called for the revocation of the proposed bill, calling it “against media freedom,” “unconstitutional,” and “oppressive.”

In a statement issued by the Press Club, Ansari stated that the bill was “another strategy for the government to strengthen media control” and “restricted the media.”

The statement said: “The Lahore Press Club stands with APNS, CPNE, PBA and PFUJ on this matter.”
