  • Bilawal said that the “selected government” hindered Pakistan’s progress.
  • “Except for lying and revenge politics, Prime Minister Imran knows nothing.”
  • He claimed that PPP had maintained price stability despite “bad conditions” during his tenure.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said on Monday that the federal government does not care about the problems of the poor and rejected the recent oil price increase.

The PPP chairman said in a statement that in one month, a liter of gasoline increased by 10 rupees. “The government is [increasing petrol prices] Pay your own expenses. “

The PPP chairman stated that Pakistan cannot afford more inflation.

“The incompetence of this chosen government hinders Pakistan’s progress; Prime Minister Imran Khan knows nothing but lies and political victimization,” Birawal said.

The PPP chairman asked the prime minister to withdraw his decision to raise gasoline prices and “show mercy to the people.”

“Despite severe conditions, PPP has kept gasoline prices stable,” he added.

Last week, Shahbaz Gill, the prime minister’s political communications aide, announced that the government had increased gasoline prices in August by 1.71 rupees per liter.

According to Gill, the decision was made on the recommendation of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Agency (OGRA). The gasoline price is now 119.80 rupees per liter.

He said it was decided that the price of high-speed diesel would remain unchanged because the rise in this commodity would have a greater impact on “ordinary people and farmers.” Therefore, the price of diesel is still 117.53 rupees per liter.

Similarly, the price of light diesel has not changed.

At the same time, he said that starting from August 1, the price of kerosene will rise by 0.35 rupees, or 85.75 rupees per liter.

“Pakistan’s gasoline prices have only increased by 11%”

Gill said that according to the international market prices on July 26, only 27 countries around the world have lower gasoline prices than Pakistan, and 140 countries have higher commodity prices than Pakistan.

He said that the average price of gasoline in the world is US$1.17 per liter, while in Pakistan it is US$0.72 per liter.

The prime minister’s aides said that global gasoline prices have risen by 47%, while Pakistan’s rise is only 11%.

He asked the country to “keep in mind” that most of the 27 countries where gasoline prices are lower than Pakistan are “self-sufficient in petroleum products.”

Gil said: “At this time, the government is levying nearly zero taxes on petroleum products,” he added: “At present, the entire world is under inflation control due to corona.”
