BAHAWALNAGAR: On Thursday, the Muharram parade was attacked by cookies, killing two people and wounding three people.
The police said the incident occurred when the Muharram parade passed through the city square area of Bahawal Nagar.
The medical director of DHQ Bahawalnagar confirmed that two people were killed in the incident and added that the injured had been transferred to different hospitals throughout the city.
After the explosion, a police contingent arrived in the area and conducted a search. A suspect was detained.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar noticed the incident, expressed condolences for the loss of life, and ordered the Punjab Provincial Government to take immediate action to arrest the criminals.
After the incident, the Chief Minister and the Provincial Minister of Law visited the Safe City Administration Bureau and inspected the control room. There, he heard a briefing about the Bahawalnagar attack and the response of the CTD and police forces.
The Chief Minister asked CTD to submit a report after conducting a sorting out operation and completing an investigation of the incident.
