New Delhi: Telegram has added group video calls for up to 1,000 viewers. Video messages are recorded in higher quality and can be expanded, while regular videos can be viewed at 0.5 or 2 times the speed. The messaging app also adds screen sharing with sound to all video calls, including one-to-one calls and more.
Group video calls allow up to 30 users to stream videos through their cameras and screens-now 1,000 people can watch anything from online lectures to live rap competitions. Telegram said it will continue to increase this limit, “until all humans on earth can join a group call and watch the yodel we celebrate (coming soon).”
To start a group video call, create a voice chat from the information page (in the ⋮ menu on Android) of any group for which you are an administrator-then open your video.
Video messages are a quick way to view or share your surroundings without adding other videos to the gallery. They now have a higher resolution, and you can click on the video message to expand it and receive all these extra pixels.
According to the blog post, clicking on the extended video message will pause it and allow you to fast forward or rewind the message in case you miss a word.
To record a video message, click the screen share that has been added to the 1-to-1 call, and it will now include the sound from the device when broadcasting in any video call.
The company says that when opening a video during any call, you can swipe to select a camera or share your screen-and use the video preview to make sure everything is perfect before going live.
