According to Iranian media reports, Wednesday’s attempt to destroy the Iranian Atomic Energy Organization’s building was thwarted.

An Iranian news website close to the security agency stated that the authorities thwarted a “destructive attack” on the civilian nuclear program, but did not provide more information.

Social media channels associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated that a drone attempted to attack the building.

Nournews, a website believed to be closely related to Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, reported that the attack stopped “before any damage to the building was caused.”

“An investigation is ongoing to identify the perpetrators and determine the facts about the incident,” Nournews said.

When asked for comment, an Iranian official referred to the Nournews report. The official declined to be named because they do not have the right to discuss the matter with the media.

Iran’s English News Television reported that “the hostile attempt occurred early on Wednesday, but due to strict safety precautions followed by similar sabotage to Iran’s nuclear facilities and scientists, it did not cause any casualties or damage.”
